today was the Wicker Park plant sale! I volunteered, with my coworker and one of her friends. we were in charge of the kid's planting station, which is exactly as adorable as it sounds -- helping kids decorate pots, and then starting either lettuce or basil seeds that they could take home. we also got a 10% discount on plants for volunteering for 3 hours, so I brought home some basil, lavender, curry (I didn't even know that was a plant!), and lettuce. it was nice being out in the sunshine-y park, and talking to my neighbors about plants and bees.
I repotted those when I got home, and then started a new kombucha brew. I made three bottles of ginger kombucha, one bottle of strawberry, and I'm also going to experiment with making kombucha coffee, which sounds interesting.
all in all, this weekend is going pretty well!
